About Us
Rare or serious diseases or injuries can easily result in hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills. These bills can quickly wipe out savings and retirement accounts, college education funds and home equity. With the average hospital stay of $3000 a day, research will show that medical hardship is the #1 reason for bankruptcy in the United States of which 78% of the filers had medical insurance.
Don’t Do It Yourself (DDIY) serves as an emergency funding source for the people of Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw Counties that are facing a financial hardship due to a medical crisis.
DDIY helps offset travel expenses for people that do not have travel reimbursement opportunities, helps where the greatest need might be for individuals that do not qualify for low income assistance, and networks and collaborates with other organizations.
DDIY is here to help support our local community by creating volunteer opportunities.
